Pursuant to the terms and conditions below, I expressly authorize AFGE, or its duly authorized agent, to initiate and continue my dues payments via the following method:

I want to join with my fellow employees and become a member of the AFGE, my AFGE Local and Council, if any (collectively, the "Federation"), and receive the benefits of union membership. By electronically signing this membership application, I understand and agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

(a) The terms and conditions listed below are very important and concern my rights and obligations regarding my application for membership. I affirm that I have read the terms carefully and understand them.

(b) By entering my name below and affixing my signature, I affirm that I can legally enter into this agreement, and I accept that I am bound by these terms and conditions.

Constitution and Bylaws

(a) I agree to abide by and be bound by the constitution and bylaws of the American Federation of Government Employees(“AFGE”) and of any AFGE local of which I am a member, or become a member, as they may be amended.

(b) I understand that I may access the AFGE constitution at www.AFGE.org or may request a copy from AFGE or my AFGE local. I further understand and agree that I have access to and may request a copy of my AFGE local’s constitution and bylaws.

Membership Term

(d) I agree that my membership is irrevocable during the one-year term and will automatically renew annually thereafter, except that early termination is permitted upon retirement from, or other complete separation from, your employment with the Federal Government or the District of Columbia Government; and

(e) I agree to pay my current membership dues; and

(f) I agree and understand that dues amounts may be adjusted periodically in accordance with the applicable constitution and bylaws by AFGE or its affiliates; and

(g) I authorize AFGE to request, and my employing agency to provide AFGE, any information deemed necessary to effectuate my dues payments.

Cancellation

(h) I understand and agree that I may revoke my membership in AFGE (i) within the 30 days before the anniversary date of my annual membership (the "annual window period"), or (ii) when AFGE is notified that membership is no longer possible under AFGE’s governing rules. Dues collected before AFGE processes such a revocation are non-refundable except at AFGE’s sole discretion; and

(i) I further understand and agree that I may cancel my membership by submitting an AFGE Dues Cancellation form online at www.afge.org / Cancel or to ATTN: Dues Cancellation, 80 F St. N.W.Washington D.C. 20001; and

(j) I understand and agree that by cancelling my membership, I will lose all rights, benefits, and privileges of membership.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER AND CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION

Payment

(a) I authorize AFGE to deduct membership dues from my checking account, savings account, debit card, or credit card in accordance with the agreed-upon electronic funds transfer(EFT), debit card, or credit card procedures and the terms of membership noted in this agreement, and further authorize AFGE to resubmit or retry any payment that is returned, rejected, or dishonored for any reason; and

(b) I authorize AFGE to deduct from my checking account or savings account, or charge my payment card, an amount equal to the then current annual dues, fees and / or assessments required for membership in the AFGE and its affiliates on a bi - weekly basis, subject to any adjustment; and

(c) I understand and agree that dues may be adjusted based on adjustments made by my AFGE local affiliate to their dues rate, and I authorize AFGE to adjust the amount deducted from my checking account or savings account, or charged to my credit card, by such amount; and

(d) I understand and agree that my authorization for EFT or credit card payments is in full force and effect until I cancel my AFGE membership or terminate this payment agreement by notifying AFGE in writing during the annual window period provided above.

Existing AFGE Members

(e) Existing AFGE members are offered a Future First Payment Date for the sole purpose of avoiding duplicative Agency Dues Withholding. In the event your employing government agency ceases to permit Agency Dues Deduction, AFGE may adjust your First Payment Date for AFGE E-Dues to begin immediately to avoid a lapse in good membership standing. AFGE will provide notice of such adjustment if it occurs.

Cancellation or Modification

(f) I agree and understand that my written notification of any change in account information must be received by AFGE by the 1st day of the month for EFT or credit card payments to be changed in any manner in that month.

Calculation of Dues

(g) I agree that the amount of my bi-weekly payment is my annual dues obligation, based on the current dues rate set by my AFGE local, divided by 26; and

(h) I agree that this authorization shall remain in full force and effect if I change AFGE locals during that 12-month period; and

(i) I further agree that if any such withdrawal is rejected, AFGE shall be under no liability to reimburse late charges or fees resulting from the withdrawal; and

(j) I authorize AFGE to charge my account a $12 ACH Return fee each time my financial institution, for any reason(insufficient funds, account frozen, etc.), rejects a payment I authorized under these terms and conditions, and I understand that ACH Return Fees are my responsibility and shall be paid promptly to AFGE upon notice. Such fees that are strictly due to proven bank error may be forgiven at the discretion of AFGE; and

(k) I also agree and understand that notwithstanding any termination of EFT or credit card authorization, I continue to be responsible for membership dues, fees and/or assessments subject to the terms and conditions listed above; and

(l) I acknowledge and agree that AFGE may share information about my account and my payment status with my AFGE local in connection with dues and account administration, provided; and

(m) I understand that AFGE may share my account information to third parties such as the AFL-CIO or trusted vendors, however AFGE will not share any financial information or information about my payment status with third parties for commercial or political purposes unrelated to dues and account administration; and

(n) I understand that dues payments to the AFGE and its affiliates are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federal Income Tax purposes. However, they may be deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and/or our state income tax law; and

(o) I acknowledge and understand that the AFGE does not provide tax advice and it is my responsibility to consult a tax professional for advice in this regard.

UNDERSTANDING

I have read, understand, and voluntarily agree to the terms of this membership application, including all of the terms and conditions listed above. I have not been subject to any duress, intimidation, threats or coercion in the execution of this application.
